Breezy Does It

On a sunny Saturday morning a 'quick trip' to the charity shops turned into a day's outing, with a scenic drive and an impromptu visit to the hilltop town of Llantrisant for a picnic.  There's a ruined castle overlooking the sweeping vista below, and after our picnic on the grass we took a stroll to the pretty churchyard.  It was beautifully sunny, but quite breezy on the hilltop, and the skirt of my dress filled up a few times like a balloon.  The shape of this dress is great though, as it's not a full circle skirt and so even if the wind catches it, one's modesty is preserved.  It was one of my Lindybop sale dresses, in a rare Lindybop success story!

Dress: Lindybop
Shoes: Dune, via charity shop
Bag: Charity shop
Sunglasses: Primark
Necklace: '50s or '60s?, via car boot sale

I also wore the lovely green plastic bead necklace that I picked up in a car boot sale.  I've had lots of wear out of it already, I can't think why I didn't already own green beads beforehand!  The back of the necklace has a clasp marked 'Western Germany'.  I wonder how it found its way to Wales.

Aside from the lovely picnic, we had great success in the charity shops, finding some real bargains.  It was a much-needed day out that actually felt quite summery.  More sunshine please, I haven't had my fill yet!

  1. Aaaah, I had my eye on this dress for ages, but it went out of stock in my size by the time it went on sale: so regret not buying it full price now! Gorgeous setting, too!

  4. Such a cute door! I have that same dress in pink, but unfortunately I'm thinking about selling it because in my case, it wasn't a success story :D

  7. Looovely, the dress really does look great without a petticoat! And what an idylic day for such an outfit! Looking forward to seeing these bargains that you speak of. I get really excited when I come across a piece from the DDR or West Germany, kind of crazy to have something from a country that doesn't exist anymore. The historical value is awesome!

  11. Ooohh, now there's a summertime classic, if ever there was one. What a perfectly pretty warm weather frock. It strikes me as being more of a grownup version, if you will, of Dorothy's iconic blue and white gingham dress in the Wizard of Oz. Three huge cheers for it being an Lindy Bop win for you. That's wonderful!

  12. You look stunning, and even though I'm usually one for very full skirts, that dress is so beautiful! The print is very nice and works well with the cut :) x
