Today's shopping round up is a tale of success. I did a little January sale shopping to cheer up a gloomy month, and now it's over I can report on my full spend. The purchases are mainly shoes, and mainly from high street shops too, I didn't find much from vintage repro brands this year. Did I mention Prada for £9? Yes. Read on...

First stop was TK Maxx, where I did exceptionally well. I've wanted a new wallet for ages so was pleased to pick up a Parisian designer one. Whilst rummaging I also found a Lulu Guinness eye clutch. I've wanted a LG bag for ages but the lips seemed a little ubiqutous. This eye one is a bit Egyptian so it's much more me. I featured it in my outfit post Black leather, Snowy skies.

In the shoe section I couldn't resist some fluffy sandals. Even if I just wear them around the house, I'll get my money's worth.
Then I found the Prada shoes. In my size. I clutched them to my chest like Gollum and his precious. I tried them on, flinching if other shoppers came near. They fit. I turned them over to see the price. £9. I practically ran down the street after paying, full of a giddy glee.
So what's the catch? They were damaged. The embellishment is missing from one shoe. I am confident I can create a new embellishment, splitting the beads from the existing one and adding in beads from my stash, to create two new matching pieces. I can barely stand in them let alone walk in them but when am I ever going to get the chance again to own a pair of Prada shoes? They are very sexy, I might add.

Prada bronze flower embellished high heels, £9 (not sure how much these would have been full price at Prada, anything between £450 and £900), TK Maxx.
It's addictive, the bargain shopping. You don't want to stop after one. So, the day after my Prada strike, I had a hankering for more Italian made leather shoes, and popped to my local Hobbs outlet quickly to see what they had. I was in luck, another pair of lovely Italian made leather shoes came home with me.
'Natalia' silver cross front shoes. £20 (was £149), Hobbs
The shoes were priced at just £20 because they apparently weren't perfect. I had to hunt really hard to find any flaws, honestly they're so tiny. I've been looking for another pair of pointy shoes for ages, as I only have the red Hobbs ones, and they don't go with everything. I have also been waiting endlessly for the Vivien of Holloway swing trousers to come back into stock in my size in the elusive longer length as I really want trousers with turn-ups and all my existing pairs (House of Foxy and Heyday) have had those sacrificed for the extra length. I was delighted then to find just what I was looking for in the Hobbs 'Kiley' trousers (£36, was £119). They are so long I will have to hem them. Ha! They're not as high-waisted as repro brands but I can live with that. I also bought a cosy wool jumper from Boden, the 'Margot' (£30, down from £99 - but I had vouchers so it only cost me £15).
I think that was a good sale shop. It wouldn't be me though without a few disasters, but I'll save those for another time...
Oooh, that was a good haul! Now you're going to have to go to lots of glam places so you can wear them all.
ReplyDeleteI have a few weddings to attend this year, so hope to wear some of the shoes then!
DeleteYou've done some nice sale and bargain shopping. I just indulged myself in Collectif's -50% sale :D Afterwards buying some very expensive petticoats and a Pinup Couture dress... Then there's all the lovely stuff coming from Banned and Hell Bunny next month too, yikes :D
ReplyDeleteHa, can't wait to see your haul!!
DeleteGood haul! I tried on those trousers in Hobbs and absolutely loved them, the fabric is gorgeous and I really really wanted them. However, I was very much between the sizes, so the 8 was too tight and the 10 was too big! It was insane how vast the difference was between the two. As you can imagine I would've had to take loads off the length, but then perhaps I could've made a matching bag or hat! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame about the waist. The fabric is gorgeous, I need to get on the hemming asap! Not enough for a matching hat for me alas ;)
DeleteI loved your haul, the prices are amazing and the pieces even more! Prada for 9 pounds, wow, well done! I love New Look and loved the boots, as well as the Lullu Guinness eye bag - I have the mouth one, but it was a present, but I did like it! Hope you have a very lovely day, well done for all you bought - it can be really addictive, yes!

I am staying away from the shops for a bit now Denise, out of temptation's way!!
DeleteI am so looking forward to seeing how you fix up those Prada shoes! I would never have looked at those and thought I could salvage them, but I totally believe you can do it. Good work, my bargain hunting friend. I've really not bought any clothes in recent weeks - a side effect of the wedding spending that maybe isn't such a bad thing... but it's not a fun thing either! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great haul, and you are so right in bargain shopping being addictive. Well done on the Prada shoes and looking forward to seeing how you fix them up. Love the Lulu Guinness eye clutch, which i admired in your outfit post, even better close up. The fluffy sandals are so sweet. I can already see you in them, prancing around the house ... xxx
ReplyDeleteThose fluffy sandals were made for prancing!!
DeleteWhat amazing finds!!! You found some great shoes! Keep us posted on your DIY fix on the Pravda shoes. I bet they fix up perfectly!
ReplyDeleteWow some really great finds there, especially with the shoes! :)
ReplyDeleteSo many amazing bargains! I can't wait to see how you fix the Prada shoes x
ReplyDeleteAmazing finds! Honestly, I squealed a little bit when I saw the whole "Prada shoes for 9 pounds" bit - you lucky *$#&*^! I'm so jealous! Good luck with fixing the embellishments. That's definitely a project, but one that has the potential to be really cool. If you can find some more beads in a similar color, you could also use them to fill in a little bit. I hope you share the results when you're done, I'd love to see!
ReplyDeleteI squealed inside lots ;) And maybe audibly too?! Yes of course I will share my repair project, I just have to find the stash of bronze beads I know I have somewhere...
DeleteWoah these were incredible finds! I'm going to be watching out to see what you do with those Prada sandals
