I have to confess that these trousers are also part of my loungewear for around the house, I don't normally wear them out either. They're not quite high enough in the waist, or long enough in the leg. They're comfy and cosy though, so I'm happy to wear them around the house when I'm relaxing.
Note that I didn't recreate the 1920s makeup look from a few weeks ago; I decided that black eyebrows and gooey eyes wasn't really me...

Your hair looks fine to me, but I sort of get what you mean. My hair is letting me down a lot of the time. In my mind it looks quite differently! At least, this time of year I can get away with wearing berets ... I love your casual flapper look, especially the kimono jacket and the necklace. xxx
ReplyDeleteHats work miracles don't they? I am going to try a cloche next time with all my hair hidden in it!
DeleteNo gooey eyes this time? ;) haha!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely look- and I totally understand you on the hair thing. The days that I don't "do" my hair always end up looking just wrong somehow.
And I don't think that your hair looks terrible here- it just looks more 70's bohemian than 20's. It's funny how much hair can make a difference :)

No gooey eyes ;)
DeleteI might redo this look - change the hair and wear a blouse with sleeves shorter than the kimono sleeves - and show how different it looks, it might be a nice experiment.
You have put together and styled this outfit beautifully! The shoes are so cute. I love the backdrop for these photos as well! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was a local cemetery, they're always pretty quiet!!
DeleteI see where you're coming from, but I still think is is a perfectly nice look, 20s hair or no! Agree with Nicole above - just makes it look more bohemian and who says that's a bad thing? I love that you have such fabulous stuff lying around the house - I have neither a jacket like this nor velvet trousers... xx
ReplyDeleteStuff spilling out of every recepticle, we need to de-clutter!! How do people manage with a capsule wardrobe?!
DeleteI know it was lazy hair day (trust me I have them too!) but have you ever tried to do a faux bob with your hair? Mine never worked when I had long hair because I had so much of it and it's incredibly thick! However, I do wonder if the average person could actually achieve a faux bob, they just look like they'd fall out the second you move your head! xx
ReplyDeleteI have managed faux bobs, but only when I've curled my hair and put lots of product on, otherwise pins just slide out as my hair's too slippy and heavy. So, quite a bit of effort for a faux bob unfortunately. Next time I think I'll just hide all my hair in a cloche hat, why didn't I think of that?!
DeleteHi Porcelina, I see nothing wrong with your hair and I am all for those fab velvet trousers.
ReplyDeleteLooking marvelous - I love any type of kimono is aces with me. I think your hair looks great, but I know we don't always love our hair! xox

I'm loving the outfit you put together here. The shoes are so cute and I love them paired with everything including those beads! I agree with you that hair and make up does so much with putting a look together. That's bad news for me though because in practice I'm just not a very polished person and have such a hard time spending any amount of time (or skill or creativity) with hair and even makeup too.
ReplyDeleteI think you look lovely but you must have been bloody freezing! I rarely even bother to do anything with my hair, it's a nightmare and does it's own thing no matter *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous that these are your lounging trousers at home, very glamorous - I would love a pair like this for 20s outfits!
ReplyDeleteThose trousers are fab. You can't beat a bit of stretchy velvet for loafing in. All in all, it's a very elegant, but very comfy-looking, ensemble.
ReplyDeleteI was watching Miss Fisher over the weekend and it hand me hankering for my bob again. I know what you mean about hair; I lack all styling skill and it ruins most early-20th-century looks on me. Hair is so critical!
Such a great outfit that you've put together and I love you hair, looks great to me! This looks like such a comfy outfit but it is also so bold and interesting with all of the different textures. Love those shoes too x
ReplyDeleteSee, i think your hair looks great, it adds a softness to the monochromatic look, which byt he way is gorgeous. You put me to shame, if this is the calibre of outfit you wear around the house, well then just call me waynetta slob, LOL!
ReplyDeleteHave a fab week lovely xo
Hi Porcelina, I haven't been here in a while. You have always rocked retro styles. This pantsuit is so elegant, love the wide leg trousers and that teal necklace looks great with it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you join my Thursday Moda linkup which goes live every Thursday. Come share your awesome style with me and my readers. Thanks and enjoy the weekend! Ada. =)

Very Miss Fisher indeed! I love this louche look - the haori, the wide leg pants, the lace up shoes. I would have liked to have seen the skinny black eyebrows with it, though. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd your hair looks just fine, I don't know what you're not liking about!
I really love the outfit. If you'd styled your hair in a 20s fashion I think it would accentuate the retro feel of the whole look, but as it is I think it still works. It's just more of a relaxed but stylish look as opposed to being 100% vintage, if that makes sense!
ReplyDeleteI like what you have done with this look! Although the 1920s are not really one of my decades, I know that there were many iterations of authentic hair and make-up. Not every woman bobbed her hair or used lots of kohl. The lounging pants were for home wear and resort fashion. Braids and looped plaits were worn by many women especially those going for more of the folkloric looks of the time and headscarves worn somewhat like the 1970s boho could work but with your long hair. I would use a scarf as a bandeau like tennis star of the era Suzanne Lenglen ( I believe I have seen a photo of her with the bandeau and a low pony tail from before she bobbed her hair).
