We narrowly averted going to the wrong place. There are two Wraxhalls in Somerset, one in North Somerset and within easy reach, and the other in South Somerset, near Glastonbury and at least an hour further in the car. We were headed to the South Somerset one, when I saw a sign for Tyntesfield and veered off the M5. Phew!

They shot an episode of 'Sherlock' at Tyntesfield, the one with the bride. A trail of clues was left around the estate for children to follow. I found the red herring...
Incidentally, there was no chance at all to take outfit photos inside the house, like we did at Dyffryn. It seemed to be national day-out-with-small-children day, and the house was crammed full of people. Very, very busy. It was a Saturday, and the first bright and sunny January day in weeks, so I suppose people felt motivated for a day out.
I'll do another post with more photos of the house and estate itself, as it really is spectacular!

I'm always amazed when you manage to get photos inside a NT place because I've never ever been to one that isn't heaving!! Usually the grounds are lovely though - adore the tall trees of this one. Looking very chic for a day out - that poor coat, waiting for its moment to shine ;) xx
ReplyDeleteThe poor coat hasn't had another day out since. Next year maybe?!
DeleteThe grounds were fabulous, as you'll see in my next post. Beautiful place. Xx
You look fab in your coat, it's a lovely colour. I have a pink velvet coat from the fifties which is very weather dependent, so the day needs to be the right temperature and the weather kind x
ReplyDeletePink velvet sounds dreamy!
DeleteI LOVE that coat and the whole outfit. Totally understand why you don't wear suede but it really is the perfect weather right about now x
ReplyDeleteIt's a very small window of opportunity isn't it?! Ah well, my rainwear is never neglected for long ;)
DeleteThat coat is gorgeous. I love the color is it raspberry? You look lovely wearing the hat and coat. Beautiful outfit. Thanks for sharing.

What a fab coat, but I hear you on the wet Welsh weather, it's the same here in Belgium. I had a suede coat for years, but hardly ever wore it. Tyntesfield looks like a fascinating place. I remember the Sherlock episode.
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for vintage leather and suede. This is a great piece.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you finally had a day to wear this coat. I love the 70's styling.
bisous

What a fabulous look! Seriously, you are just built for these 70s inspired, Jane Birkin-esque looks. The suede coat is a great piece, and I am really feeling the floppy hat with it.
ReplyDeleteThat estate is absolutely gorgeous. How funny that you found the red herring!
That is a beautiful coat!!! I've read that there is a water repellent spray that you can buy for suede - no idea how well it works though, but might be worth looking into if you want to give that fabulous coat more outings. If I lived in the UK I would be doing the same and getting a pass to the various NT houses...Blenheim is at the top of my list! Looking forward to the post with the photos of the interior which I imagine is quite spectacular.
ReplyDeleteYour coat is fabulous, I do love vintage suede! The old man's got excellent taste! The late 1960s/1970s style looks gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeleteWho'd have thought there was profit in bird poo? Tyntesfield looks wonderful. At least with membership you can go back again when hopefully it'll be free from those pesky kids. xxx
Such a beautiful location to take photos and I love this outfit on you, your floppy hat and coat go so well together! :)
ReplyDeleteThat coat is a real beauty and so are you!!! Yay for nice sunny weather to take it out for a spin and with such beautiful scenery! x
ReplyDeleteJust spotted some of my friends here Vix and Ann (polyester princess).
ReplyDeleteYour a girl after my own heart with your vintage clobber. You look fabulous.
Hooray for a sunny day, and that fabulous coat. Love the hat too. And wow, that estate is a stunner. xox
