I was looking for my gingham jeans (still not found them), or the gingham Hell Bunny dress (which I remembered I'd actually sold as it didn't fit very well). I then thought about my blue and white gingham Lindybop dress, but couldn't find that either. Where was all the gingham?! Another hour later and I felt triumphant when I finally found some gingham, in the form of another Lindybop dress.

Hat: Vintage Panama, borrowed from my husband
Dress: Lindybop
Shoes: George at Asda
Bag: Car boot sale
Sunglasses: Primark
This is one of those outfits that I really enjoyed wearing - especially with that hat - but looking at the photos I'm disappointed with how the outfit looks. Posture maybe, or angles, or that exceedingly white flesh that hasn't seen any sun since October last year (I'm not exaggerating, I checked my blog archives...). I don't think it will put me off wearing something similar again though, I care far more about how an outfit makes me feel.
As for all that lost gingham, there is obviously a suitcase somewhere in my attic that is full of it...

Oh how I adore gingham! I totally understand why you had to pull some out of its winter hibernation for that lovely, warm day. We do have to take full advantage of a nice day in the uk. After all, who knows when one might turn up again. And the addition of the Panama hat is the perfect finishing touch!
ReplyDeleteI was really pleased with the hat - literally snatched off my husband as we left the house! He has much more sun-friendly skin than me so didn't mind.
DeleteI think this looks adorable on you and you can tell that you were enjoying wearing it by the fun playful look on your face.
ReplyDeleteSometimes photos let us down. Also I think sometimes we are too hard on ourselves.
bisous
Suzanne
I remember those two balmy days well! Bring them back!!
ReplyDeleteI do love gingham, I'm dying to wear my old favourite frock now it fits again but if the weather they've forecast for next week is right it might be a few weeks away yet.
I'd love to see you wearing that pretty dress with red or yellow accessories, it would really make the blue checks pop! xxx
I love this photo shoot and I really cannot sea anything wrong with how that dress looks on you. I'm thinking Suzanne is right, and we are being too hard on ourselves sometimes. We had 18°C and more about two weeks ago, but it didn't last. We didn't even have 18°C last year in June, when we were in Wales. xxx
ReplyDeleteYes to all the gingham!!!! I cannot wait to wear it here too. :) This is a super cute outfit and I really think it suits you well- so definitely do wear it again!

Yay for a bit of warmer weather! I love gingham so much and this dress is gorgeous! I love this outfit and the photos, it looks like you had a great day enjoying the sunshine x
ReplyDeleteIt was such a gorgeous day, yes we enjoyed it very much! More like that please!!
DeleteI simply adore this gingham dress. The perfect style and length!
ReplyDeleteAbby of Life in the Fash Lane
Thanks Abby, it's becoming a favourite!
DeleteSo (apparently!) effortlessly causal yet elegant. Perfect for spring - although maybe not for the weather that's coming later this week!
ReplyDeleteYes we'd better brace ourselves and dig out the winter coats we might have already packed away... They'd better be easier to find than the gingham was!!
DeleteLooking graceful and lovely (don't judge your own pics too harshly - we see beauty!). Gingham is great. xox

Aw, thanks Patti ;)
DeleteAh, I hate when outfits don't turn out in photos like you think they should! But I think you look lovely, so I'm not sure what was wrong. You can't go far wrong with some gingham - although I'm yet to really wear it this year. Shock horror! xx
ReplyDeleteWHAT?! Dig some out immediately!!
DeleteI think you look fab in that outfit, it really suits you. Your description of trying to dig out your gingham made me smile.
ReplyDeleteWhere does stuff go, honestly?!
DeleteNothing wrong with those photos! Gingham is classic and feminine and I love the look with the hat and cute flats. And even if the temps drop, I think this would still work with a pretty cardigan and add some tights.
ReplyDeleteTheresa
I haven't tried that dress with tights actually, that's a good suggestion Theresa, thank you!
DeleteHello from Idaho found your blog though Vixion. It took me little bit to figure out last time I wore a gingham dress and it been a while. My ten year high school reunion. But I found some blue gingham and I'm putting it into to rugs I'm working on.
ReplyDeleteIf you fine time stop in for a cup of coffee.
That Gingham dress is gorgeous. You look so lovely.
ReplyDeleteMarilyn
How funny - where is that gingham stash hiding?!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks lovely, very Spring-y. I never bother too much about being pale, I always am, and I've given up fretting about it!
You'd need tights, boots and thermals with it today though - it's been hailing and blowing a gale... xx
Such a cute dress!
ReplyDeleteAren't you just cute as a button! I love the flirty gingham dress and the straw hat - perfect for spring. I have a gingham skirt that doesn't fit me very well, and I've been looking around for something that I like more. It's pretty trendy right now, so plenty to choose from...
ReplyDeleteI think it looks loves on you and gingham is always perfect for warmer weather. Be warned it's supposed to heat up again at the end of next week, so start digging out those other bits of gingham now! xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely outfit! I love gingham especially for when it starts to warm up. You remind me I have to start digging around for my gingham too! <3 Yay for the warmer months!
