The manor and grounds are certainly more formal than many National Trust properties. I felt that the building would make a good film location as a posh boarding school. Perhaps it was my hat that helped give me that impression - I always think it's a little bit 'St. Trinians'. Teaming it with my gingham shirt from Heart of Haute helped my imagination along a little further because red gingham was our summer dress uniform at junior school.
The skirt was one of those described as 'midi' - which I always envisage to mean that it will fall to mid calf. As you can see, it only just passes my knees. I kept it as it's apparently made of 'scuba', whatever that is, which does mean that it's fantastic for travelling - you can scrunch it into a ball, ram it in your suitcase, and it will miraculously spring back to shape when you unpack it, with no ironing required. If I find any nice scuba fabric perhaps I can make my own longer version.

That's it now for photos from our Norfolk trip. The weather's turned colder and wetter here in Wales, so my next outfit post might be a bit more Autumnal!

I completely agree about the location, and my junior school summer uniform was green gingham! Although I think your pigtails may have contributed to the impression too?
ReplyDeleteYou visit the most amazing places and always take such beautiful photos! I'm loving this outfit, it looks so perfect for summer and really goes well with the location... Looks comfy too! x
ReplyDeleteI love gingham! And the scenery!
ReplyDeleteginham and the costume ...... just perfect!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is super cute. Look at that toned tummy!
ReplyDeleteAll these estates are very impressive as are your photos.

The tummy is the 'breathing in' trick ;)
DeleteYou definitely look like you're on a school trip, and super cute in your gingham blouse and your pigtails. Lovely skirt, too, even if it's not exactly midi on you I'd never heard of Scuba material ... Oh, and I have that brooch too, in blue and green. xxx
ReplyDeleteLovely shirt and the skirt sounds great for travelling. Looks like a lovely place to visit. Another to add to the list!
ReplyDeleteI love Blicking Hall. It's got the most amazing enormous staircase inside. Glad to see you didn't encounter the ghost of Ann Boleyn.
ReplyDeleteScuba is a new fabric to me too.
Another gorgeous Estate to visit and admire! Such a cute outfit as well, love the hat and that gingham blouse! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the hat-plait combo, don't you look charming :D I am ashamed to say I haven't visited this one yet, which really is bad considering I'm a lot closer than you... I have a scuba skirt in mint green from ASOS and it has the same scrunchable qualities as this one. I have the opposite problem though and it's too long! xx
ReplyDeleteAll these fabulous places make me want to move to the UK and plan a dozen trips. And you look fab in the gingham top, so summer-y. xox

Well that definitely doesn't look like midi length to me either- but, it is a very nice knee-length :)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all of your tie blouses lately!
What a great outfit. I love the color combination.

What stunning photos! I've often come across dresses in that scuba fabric in chazzas but nothing as nice as your skirt.
