Tenby

I like to grab the opportunity to travel at any time of year, even if it's just for a few nights away here in Wales.  Last weekend was a chance to catch up with some friends, with a couple of nights away in Swansea and Llanelli, followed by a day trip to Tenby for the annual blues festival.  The weekend started with quite a heavy night, catching up with good friends not seen in a long time (which always makes the drinks flow faster for some reason?), so I was rather fragile the next day.  I'd recovered sufficiently by the Sunday though, and although it was very cold, it was still looking rather beautiful when we arrived in Tenby.  It's a quaint place that even looks appealing in the grey and drizzle.

My husband was playing at the festival, and we were crammed into a tiny cafe overlooking the beach.  His show was the first stop on the blues trail that day, so it was a bit oversubscribed, and they were turning people away at the door.  It was a lot of fun - the festival has a great atmosphere, and after his set we were able to catch the end of a friend's set and have a bit of a catch-up.

I don't have that many photos to share from the weekend, but there are a few that show Tenby looking incredibly pretty.  It will probably be our last visit to the town in 2017, so it was a fond farewell until next year.

It was really rather arctic, I wasn't just wearing that 'Olive' jumper dress from Collectif - many more layers were needed.  I've worn the green version of that dress on the blog before here.  This time I paired the burgundy version with tights, practical boots, a big '80s coat, and one of those giant scarves that doubles-up as a blanket.

Do you take the opportunity to get away whenever you can?  Or do you like to spend your down time doing nothing?  I have to admit that this weekend is very much about staying at home and recuperating - this week hasn't been the greatest, I have come down with a cold, and there have been various challenges such as my car not starting.  There were great plans for DIY this weekend, but I have instead been watching Channel 5 Christmas films whilst drinking Lidl's version of Bailey's.  I don't apologise for this at all.  I even managed to get the Christmas bedlinen on the bed, using a small white lie that it was the only clean set left...

Hoping you are all having a good end of autumn and are gearing up for the winter season!

  1. Tenby looks lovely as do the pair of you! Last Sunday was bitterly cold here so it must have been even worse on the coast.
I don't think we ever have a day of doing nothing, both of us are those irritating people who have to "do" something. I'm on countdown to India now though, long beach walks, lots of reading, swimming in the sea and soaking up the sun.
    Feel better soon. xxx

  2. I always love seeing photographs of my beloved Tenby, which is looking exceptionally picturesque time this of year! I love the burgundy Collectif dress, which looks warm and cosy to wear. I was smiling when I read about your little white Christmas lie. Poor you, hope you'll feel better soon and have a better week ahead too! xxx

  3. What a pretty place! It sounds like you had a great time. Love this dress - so sleek and classic.
I love to travel, but it's hard for me to do weekend trips. I don't drive, so if I can't talk Brian into going somewhere, it's pretty much home for me. Maybe I should look into taking the train or something...

  5. Love that Collectif jumper dress, of course :D And I told a similar lie about needing to see if our new Christmas tree fit in the space, and if the lights we bought were the right length and if the baubles were too big... so my tree has been up for two weeks :D Hope you feel better soon xx

  6. Hehehe, I love that you've started Christmas early. Tenby looks really pretty, I bet it would look gorgeous covered in snow.

Right now I'm all about the down time - when I'm not at work I quite happily hole up at home with Pete and the cats and refuse to do anything. But that's because work is hectic; once the work-life balance is more even I'll do more.

  9. Hehe I've noticed that the Olive jumper dress is a favourite among the UK bloggers this time of year - definitely looks just the thing for chilly weather. I love how the burgundy looks with the plaid scarf. I like a good mix - weekends away followed by weekends of doing absolutely nothing. The combination of Baileys + Christmas movies sounds fabulous - I've given up on the Christmas DIY I was planning in favour of quality time with my couch :P
